  • A 49-year-old Macedon woman died Friday following a two-vehicle crash in Penfield. Three other people were injured in the crash on Thursday, Oct. 4.
The crash happened near the intersection of Route 441 and Watson Road around 5:30 p.m. as driver James E. Maher, 65, of Macedon, was westbound on Route 441 turning left on Watson Road.
His car was carrying his wife Ellen Maher, 49, his daughter, Erica M. Silverman, 34, of New York City, and his two-year-old grandson.
The car was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Michael D. Tyson, 25, of Macedon, who witnesses say was traveling at a very high rate of speed. Ellen Maher was thrown from the vehicle and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries.
Monroe County Sheriff's technicians responded to the scene and gathered measurements as part of the accident reconstruction investigation.
All other injuries were minor. Police say there is no indication of alcohol in the crash and no tickets or charges at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
