  • Derek M. Dalton, WHEC-TV Vice President and General Manager, announced today that Don Hudson, award-winning television reporter and anchor, will join the News10NBC team as anchor/reporter starting in late September.
Hudson’s addition to News10NBC follows the announcement in June that Rich Funke, the 44-year veteran of Rochester news and a pioneer in local sports broadcasting, will retire from News10NBC at the end of the year.
"We are thrilled to welcome Don Hudson to our News10NBC family.  Not only is Don a true professional but he is also a dedicated family man,” said Dalton.  “His commitment to family and community are the exact values that we look for here at News10NBC.  He is passionate about getting to the heart of the story making him a perfect addition to our News10NBC family.
Hudson has had an extensive anchor and reporting career, which has taken him across the U.S. from Washington, D.C. to Salt Lake City, UT, and now to his new home in Rochester.  He will leave his position at KTVX (ABC) in Salt Lake where he has served as anchor and reporter for the weekday 5 PM newscast, anchor for weekday morning newscast, and general assignment and special projects reporter since 2009.
An Emmy Award-winning reporter, Hudson has covered several major stories including Hurricane Brett when it hit Texas.  He was one of the first people on the air after terrorists slammed a plane into the Pentagon.  He was part of a news team that won national and regional Edward R. Murrow awards.  He covered the deadly Washington D.C. sniper shootings.  And he reported on the U.S. Mexico border as part of an Emmy Award-winning special report on illegal immigration.
Hudson is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in communications. He and his wife have three sons.
