The Penfield boys swimming team fell to the undefeated Pittsford Panthers 114-70 in a dual meet on Thursday, Jan. 12.
With the loss, the Patriots dropped to 7-4 on the season. Next up for the team are away meets against Irondequoit and Rush Henrietta beginning Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Scoring for the Patriots was senior Jason Gerlach, who recorded wins in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:00.20 and the 100 fly in a time of 52.76. Both times beat the state qualifying mark, and earned the swimmer a trip back to the New York State Championship Meet.
Penfield also had impressive freestyle relay teams. The Patriots won the 200 freestyle relay with the team of Joe Mulvehill, Jason Gerlach, Jeff Doser and Chris Gnam that finished at 1:32.16. Its 400 freestyle relay team of Doser, Gerlach, Mulvehill and Mark Reynolds won with a time of 3:23.85.
