The top-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology women's hockey team will honor the United States military during its home games against Buffalo State this weekend.
RIT, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III hockey, will play Buffalo State on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 at Ritter Arena. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Admission is free.
The Tigers will wear camouflage jerseys for both games. The jerseys will be auctioned off online next week. The bidding will start on Wednesday, Jan. 18, and end at 8 a.m. Jan. 23. Visit www.rit.edu/studentaffairs/supportveterans/bidding.php to place a bid.
All proceeds from the games will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project, which is a nonprofit organization that honors and empowers wounded warriors who suffered service-related injuries on or after Sept. 11, 2001.
The project helps to raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of the injured service men and women.
Commemorative T-shirts will be sold Jan 16 to Jan. 20 in RIT's Student Activities Union. The shirts will also be available for purchase prior to and during the games this weekend.
