Empire Precision Plastics was selected to receive the 2017 Best of Rochester Award for Precision Injection and Optics Molding by the Rochester Award program.
With its sixth award, Empire is now eligible for the Rochester Business Hall of Fame.
The program identifies companies that have achieved marketing success in their community and business category. The winners enhance the positive image of small business through customer and community service.
Empire completed a 27,000 square foot expansion this year that included a new technology center for collaborative research and development, additional clean rooms and automation systems to streamline medical and optics molding and assembly, and increased warehouse space to support inventory management.
The firm acquired passive infrared lens equipment from Orafol Display Optics in 2016, expanding its in-house optics capabilities. It also acquired manufacturing assets from Advanced Mold & Tooling, allowing Empire to increase its existing capacity to build custom injection molds and start offering tooling only services.
“Empire strives to continually improve injection molding and assembly services for our medical device, industrial and firearms customers in the Rochester area and beyond,” said Neal Elli, president.
