For the second year in a row, local Rotary members and athletes of all ages will put on the gloves — softball gloves, that is.
The outdoor winter softball tournament will take place at the Webster Town Hall. All proceeds from the event will help fund the Pen-Web Rotary’s literacy project by purchasing E-readers for children in need.
The inaugural tournament last year was played in six inches of snow, and organizers are hoping for some fluffy precipitation again.
“It’s one of the few events in town where we want more snow,” said Rotary member Kim Clark.
Event organizer Derek Meixell agrees, saying it’s a great chance to have some laughs and meet new people while helping a worthy cause.
“Last year, we felt like school kids playing outside during a snow day,” he said.
