The following events are occurring in the Penfield area on Wednesday, Feb. 22:

Fifteenth annual Adult Winter Reading Festival: Penfield Public Library, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield. This year's theme is "Leap Into a Chilly Thriller." Participants can read any book and join the reading game. Open for ages 18 and older. No registration required. For more information, call 585-340-8720.

9 a.m., Juried show of paintings by members of the Penfield Art Association: Barnes & Noble, 3349 Monroe Ave., Pittsford.

4:15 p.m., K-2 Stories 'N' Crafts with Mrs. Carpenter: Penfield Public Library, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield. Class every Wednesday and Thursday, now through March 29, for kindergarten through second-grade students. Children can enjoy stories and a theme-related craft. To register, call 585-340-8720.

6:30 p.m., Family Game Day: Penfield Public Library, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield. This is an evening of family fun. There will be games, prizes and refreshments. For kids ages 5 and older, with an adult.

6:30 p.m., "The Basics of Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease" Summit at Brighton: 2000 Summit Circle Drive, Rochester. Alzheimer's Association offers free educational program. Registration is required. Call 800-272-3900, or register online at www.alz.org/rochesterny.

7 p.m., Larry Towell, slideshow with live music: Visual Studies Workshop, 31 Prince St., Rochester. Magnum photographer Larry Towell will be having a folk music performance and a photography slideshow. He has recently done photographing in Afghanistan, and has published monographs on the Gaza Strip and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
