  • Penfield grad Spaan headed to Hobart to play lacrosse

  • Penfield graduate Jonathan Spaan (2013) signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse for Hobart College. After graduating high school in 2013, Spaan then went off for a postgraduate year to Salisbury School in Salisbury, Conn.
    Years Playing: Playing lacrosse for 11 years; 4 years on Penfield Varsity; 1 year at Salisbury School
    Honors: - Led Penfield in points (67) and assists (39) in 2013 - Selected as a All-Monroe County Attack - Selected to play in the US Lacrosse Rochester Senior All Star Game - Selected as the Western New York Championship Player of the Game - Selected as the Democrat and Chronicle Athlete of the Week
    Why did I choose Hobart: Hobart has a great combination of outstanding academics and a great lacrosse tradition. Also, I felt extremely comfortable with the coaching staff. In addition, Hobart is close to home and will allow my family to come and watch me play.
    What do I look forward to: I look forward to enjoying the college experience while continuing my lacrosse career at the highest level possible.
