Police have charged a Rochester man in connection with the investigation of missing Rochester teen 17-year-old Larie Butler.

Irondequoit and Rochester police held a joint press conference today regarding a body they found Thursday in a pool at a home on Dorington Road in Irondequoit. Police said there has not been a positive identification of the body, but Irondequoit Police Chief Richard Boyan said there is "no doubt" that the body is that of Butler, who went missing on Saturday.

The cause of death, police said, was multiple wounds to the torso. No weapon has been found.

Police said Devante Lively, 20, will face the charge of second-degree murder. They said he turned himself into Rochester police at 1 p.m. today with a lawyer. He will be arraigned in Irondequoit Town Court tonight.

Police said that they found the body on Thursday in a swimming pool on Dorington Road. The home, they said, belonged to Lively's grandmother. The body was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said they have not determined a motive, adding that Lively was a friend of Butler's family.

"I know it's been traumatic for the family and it's been traumatic for those involved in the investigation," said Boyan.

Butler's mother, Karen Snipes, who was at the conference with friends and family, thanked those involved in the investigation.

"I'm glad they got him," she said. "Now we have to find out why he did what he did."

"I'm going to miss her dearly," said Snipes of her daughter, a junior at East High School.
