Eastern medicine meets the east side of Rochester at ROC City Wellness, a new health and wellness center on Penfield Road.
The new business is the brainchild of Christine Baker Marriage, a licensed massage therapist who lives in Irondequoit.
In 2012, she formed the Rochester Massage Alliance to help local massage therapists grow their business by providing a space to see clients, as well as offering networking and continuing education opportunities.
The long awaited expansion and renovation of BayTowne Plaza got started Wednesday as the wall of the former Tops store came tumbling down.
In December, the Penfield Town Board gave the green light to developer John DiMarco's plans to build a street of retail shops and replace the existing Walmart store with a Super Walmart.
Today, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced his plan to extend tax treatment afforded to film producers and music publishers to investors in live theatre. Schumer will introduce the STAGE Act of 2013, which aims to amend the Federal Tax Code and to promote financing in the often prohibitively risky enterprise of commercial stage production. Schumer noted that there are dozens of theatres throughout Upstate New York, like Proctors in Schenectady, Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, the Rochester Broadway Theatre League, Stanley Theatre in Utica and Broome County Forum Theatre that put on Broadway shows and live productions, and this bill would benefit the production companies that bring their shows to those theatres.
Residents in Penfield will hit the polls Tuesday to vote on the proposed 2013-14 school budget.
The adopted $87 million budget increases spending by 2.4 percent and has an estimated tax rate increase of 4.4 percent.
